{"id":75,"date":"2013-02-20T07:01:06","date_gmt":"2013-02-20T12:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.onioncap.com\/?p=75"},"modified":"2013-02-20T07:02:43","modified_gmt":"2013-02-20T12:02:43","slug":"choosing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.onioncap.com\/?p=75","title":{"rendered":"Choosing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To be, or not to be, that is the choice.<\/p>\n<p>We wish that were true, and in some ways it is the essential existential question; but choosing isn&#8217;t what we usually do.\u00c2\u00a0 More often than not, we live in the comfort of not-choosing.\u00c2\u00a0 Small choices make us happy &#8211; do I choose the Italian roast this morning or the breakfast blend?\u00c2\u00a0 Do I have oatmeal or do I have toast?\u00c2\u00a0 Over easy or scrambled?\u00c2\u00a0 Do I buy a car or a truck?\u00c2\u00a0 Do I go for the high mileage or comfort?<\/p>\n<p>Pliers or crescent wrench, your choice, $9.95!<\/p>\n<p>Really?<\/p>\n<p>The bigger things, who we love, where we live, what job we take, what religion we ascribe to, what health status we embark upon, what language we speak, what family we are born to, what air we breath &#8230; do we really have the choices we think we do?
